Communications

You are welcome to phone or visit the nursery at any time. Each day we complete day sheets which detail your child's day at nursery. We hold parents information evenings & various meetings with staff to keep you up to date with your child's development. We use Tapestry - an online learning journal which allows you to track you child's progress across the seven areas of learning and development.  It is a simple, secure system that is a record of children's achievements by allowing observations and photos to be uploaded.

Settling in

Settling in

Communications

Before your child starts at Sunflowers it is important that they settle into nursery and get to know their key worker. To facilitate this we will arrange for you to bring your child to the nursery for three 'settling in' visits.  This will enable you and your child to become confident and familiar with staff and the other children, as well as the daily routines of nursery.

Security

Settling in

Security

At Sunflowers Nursery, security of the children is very important to us. We will expect you to pick your child up unless we are told by you of an alternative carer. We operate a photograph or password system should you wish to do this.

Sickness

Settling in

Security

At Sunflowers Nursery we advise you to keep your child away from nursery if they are ill.  We cannot accept children who are ill with infectious complaints. Complete details of exclusions are included in the Parents Handbook.

Meals and sundry items

Whilst at nursery your child is encouraged to eat our healthy, home cooked meals prepared at our premises. Most of our ingredients are locally sourced and all are of high quality.  We cater for a variety of dietary requirements including vegetarian, dairy free, gluten free.

Meals at nursery include:

  • Breakfast - A choice of cereal for children
  • Snack Time - Children are offered a daily snack
  • Two course lunch - Starter and dinner or dinner and pudding
  • Healthy snack tea - We encourage parents to still enjoy a family meal at home

Our meals are rotated on a 3 weekly cycle and menus are available in reception.

We have a separate weaning menu and fresh cooked foods are blended / chopped depending on your baby's stage of development. As we provide formula milk (up until the age of 15 months), we sterilise and prepare bottles so all you need to do is bring your little one!

Sundry items

At Sunflowers Nursery, nappies*, wipes and creams etc are included in the fees.  In short, all you will need to bring to the nursery is a change of clothes and your child!

In the summer we even provide a high factor sun protection cream.

*Please note that pull-ups are not provided due to nursery policy.
